So, is it just me, or does it seem that essential oils are taking the world by storm lately? They are everywhere!! To someone who is just learning about essential oils it may seem like some sort of crazy fad that is bound to burn out eventually, but that really isn’t the case.
Did you know that essential oils have been around for thousands of years?
Really they have. The ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Chinese, and Indians used essential oils for rituals and religious practices, recognizing the oils’ ability to influence human feelings.
Essential oils were also mentioned in the Bible. Remember the three wise men brought Frankincense, Gold, and Myrrh to baby Jesus. There are actually over 600 references to essential oils and aromatic plants found in the bible.
During World War II, Dr. Jean Valnet used therapeutic-grade essential oils to successfully treat injured soldiers on the battlefield. Healing their battle wounds and curing them of gangrene. Google it, you’ll see!
And that brings us to the present. I personally believe the reason essential oils have become more mainstream recently is because people are more informed now. We are more informed and more aware that we are ultimately in control of our own health. We recognize there are more natural and effective alternatives available.
It’s been over a year since I started using essential oils in my home, and really can’t imagine what we would do without them now. I love knowing I’m prepared if someone has a fever or a cough or a belly ache, or well anything….because you know what they say.
